BHS COVID-19 UPDATE

March 18, 2020 | Posted by Community Relations

Boyd Healthcare Services is continually working to be prepared for all types of infectious diseases. We are currently monitoring ongoing COVID-19 updates from the Greene County Health Department, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and implementing their recommendations.

As of Monday, March 16, 2020, a new patient and visitor screening process was implemented.  This process will be in effect until further notice.  If you are having severe shortness of breath or respiratory distress, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room

Screening questions for patients and visitors that come to the hospital are as follows:

-HAVE YOU HAD A FEVER IN LAST 24 HOURS?

-DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A COUGH?

-HAVE YOU BEEN OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES IN THE LAST 30 DAYS?

-WERE YOU EXPOSED TO ANYONE WITH INFLUENZA OR COVID-19?

If the answer is YES to any of the above questions:

-VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN WITH THE PATIENT.

-PATIENTS WILL BE PLACED IN AN ISOLATION ROOM AND WILL BE ASKED TO WEAR A MASK.

-NO ONE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE IS ALLOWED INTO THE BUILDING UNLESS THEY ARE RECIVING TREATMENT.

-ONLY 1 VISITOR AT A TIME PER PATIENT.

Limited and Suspended Services (Please note things may change daily as we continue to receive new information and updates on the spread of the virus):

*At this time, our Wellness Center is open to members.  Please wipe down equipment BEFORE AND AFTER use to protect yourself and others.  All members will have to ring to gain access, and only 10 members are allowed at a time.  Name and phone numbers will be taken if a wait time is needed.

*All screening exams are currently postponed.

*Our Physical Therapy Department is still seeing patients; patients will be screened before their appointment.

*ENT is still seeing patients; patients will be screened before their appointment.

*All Outlying Rural Health Clinics are seeing patients; call for appointment, and all patients will be screened.

*The Carrollton Rural Health Clinic asks that patients call to speak to a Patient Screening Nurse versus walk-ins at this time to avoid risking further exposure to patients.

*Boyd’s Closet and Heartstrings Gift Shop are closed until further notice.

We understand these precautions might be inconvenient for our visitors, patients and outpatients, but this process has been implemented to protect the wellbeing of all our patients and staff, which is our top priority. We must take this pandemic very seriously and follow the CDC’s most recent guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.
